8 Plugins To Get Your WordPress Blog In Order
Sometimes we need control over how our blog posts, categories and links are ordered, and which ones to hide and which ones to display. Rather than tinker around with template tags, this list of plugins will enable you obtain the order you need on your blog in quick easy steps, that will remain in place when you change themes.
Exclude Pages - This plugin allows you to uncheck a box if you don’t want a page to be included in page menus. This is something I’ve always done previously by inserting the ‘&exclude’ code in the page list tag, but this plugin offers a quicker way to get the job done.
My Category Order - With the new theme for ThemeGrrl I found myself wanting to change the order in which the categories were presented across the gray bar above. This plugin provides a simple drag and drop interface for you to order your categories. It comes with a sidebar widget.
My Page Order - Similar to My Category Order, this plugin enables you to order your pages via a drag and drop interface. Pages can be ordered in WordPress by editing the page order field on each page, but this process is a bit cumbersome. This plugin provides a quicker option.
My Link Order - I think you get the idea by now! Some as above, but for links.
AStickyPostOrderER - AStickyPostOrderER lets you customize the order in which posts are displayed per category, per tag, or over-all. This plugin is particularly useful for using WordPress as a Content Management System.
List Category Posts - List Category Posts allows you to list posts from a category into a post/page using the [catlist] shortcode. This shortcode accepts a category name or id, the order in which you want the posts to display, and the number of posts to display.
Reorder Gallery - This plugin gives you the ability to drag and drop images in your gallery and reorganize how they are ordered. It also adds a order field to each image, so if drag and drop isn’t your thing you can order them by this method as well (although this option is now available in the current version of WordPress).
Sort Admin Menus - If you have lots of plugins installed you might find some menus in your admin panel to be very cluttered. This plugin sorts the items in the “Manage”, “Settings” and “Plugins” dashboard menus in alphabetical order, making it easier to find what you want.
Feel free to comment if there’s a relevant plugin I’ve missed!
